Jo Formosa Speaker’s Bio

Jo Formosa is an engaging and inspiring practitioner and speaker in Ayurveda, Chinese Medicine, Remedial Massage and Neuro-strategies. Corporate health is one of her special areas of interest.

She set up one of the first Ayurvedic clinics in Australia and has a strong record in helping guide patients back to health through her multi-pronged, and practical, approach to healing.

As well as being the clinical director and founder of Back2Health, in Brisbane, Jo travels throughout Australia, the UK and US on speaking engagements and executes corporate health training programs for multi-million dollar companies to help employees and executives lead better and healthier lives.

Specialising in serious health conditions – from cancer and digestive disorders to cardiovascular disease, diabetes and autoimmune problems – she has a knack for intuitively understanding the body and curing even the most complex problems.

For Jo, real healing is done on an individual level and she’s not afraid of disrupting the traditional models. In our busy, fast-paced, and fast-food culture, too often seemingly-small, or niggling, health problems that arise in everyday life are ignored – these become the building blocks of serious disease. The key is treating the cause and not the symptoms.

With 70-80 per cent of your immunity located in the digestive system and food intolerance and complaints such as irritable bowel syndrome on the rise in Australia and throughout the Western World, Jo is a strong advocate for gut health.

She set up the 28-Day Detox & Body Restoration Program and 7-Day  Gut Health Program which has seen people around the world turn their life around by following her simple, but practical advice on how to eat and live, according to their body type.

Together with internationally-acclaimed wealth expert Roger Hamilton, she has created Health Dynamics – the world’s first health and personality test which allows users to find out where they are on the health spectrum – and ultimately make their way higher up on the spectrum, to better health and wellbeing.

Another one of her programs – the 5:2 Technology Detox helps children, teenagers and adults break a destructive cycle of dependence on technology. The program has been featured in a wide range of media including a 10-minute national segment on ABC TV and a double page feature in Australia’s widest selling newspaper.

Jo is regularly featured in a wide-range of prominent media outlets including the BBC, ABC, Today Show, Harpaar’s Bazaar, Elle, Good Health Magazine, The Sunday Telegraph and more. She also has a regular corporate health column in one of Australia’s pre-eminent business publications, Business First Magazine.

Jo also knows first-hand what it’s like to be in ill health, having seriously ruptured a disc in her back on her way to compete in the 2000 Sydney Olympics as a hammer thrower. This incident changed the course of her life and lead her on a health trajectory which has seen her help thousands of people on the delicate journey back to health.

Some of the topics she speaks on include:

1   Roadmap to better health – When you understand the stages of disease you can find the quickest way to get back on the path to health and wellness.

2   Understanding your body type – We all have different body types. The best way to achieve optimum health and vitality is by becoming aware of your unique body type. This is your personal roadmap to life.

3   Dealing with stress – Corporate health and wellness strategies to increase productivity in your team and, in turn, increase profit.

4   Detox to better health – Detoxing through Ayurvedic practices is one of the most tried and tested methods to help rid our bodies of unwanted waste and toxins.

5   Why your digestive system improves your health – With 90 per cent of ill-health starting in your gut, healthy digestion is a critical component of overall health.

6   Why we get chronic pain – Understand the cause of your chronic pain and learn how to correct the imbalances before they manifest.

7   Food as medicine – Learning how to use food as your medicine is an effective and easy way to help you achieve the optimum weight you desire, now and for the long term.
